“You’re never fully dressed without a smile.” Annie

Hi, Everyone! My name is Meredith Robinson. I have been married to my husband Curtis, a FedEx aircraft mechanic, for 4 years. I adore being a dog mom to my two fur babies, Piper and Hazel. I am a dental assistant and the Zoom Whitening Specialist for Kizer Dental Associates. I think Zoom is a wonderful, affordable option for those desiring a brighter smile. I enjoy performing this procedure because it gives me an opportunity to get to know our patients. This whitening treatment produces remarkable results and patients are never disappointed. I know that there are many questions about the Zoom process. I want to answer a few of those frequently asked questions about Zoom in-office whitening.

#1 – Why should I choose Zoom?

A pearly-white smile is not only beautiful, but it can greatly improve self-confidence. At KDA, we want your smile to be your best accessory! Over time, your teeth become stained or discolored from foods, drinks, and habits. Anything that can stain your clothes can also stain your teeth. Red wine, coffee, tea, cola, soy sauce, spaghetti sauce, smoking, chewing tobacco, and even some fruits and vegetables leave behind stains. We recommend Philips Zoom in-office treatment for fast, safe, and effective teeth whitening. It combines the newest advances in dental technology with proven chemical formulas to ensure that the whitening experience is painless, and the results are satisfying. Zoom allows your teeth to whiten up to 6-10 shades lighter in just one appointment. Zoom has many advantages over other treatments. Some of these advantages are all teeth being treated simultaneously, faster treatment time, longer lasting results, and the treatments are performed by an experienced dental professional. Are you interested in a brighter smile?

#2 – I’m interested! What happens now?

You’ll need to schedule a free Zoom consult appointment. Dr. Kizer or Dr. Smith will conduct a comprehensive examination to confirm the health of your teeth and gums. They will speak with you about your oral hygiene and lifestyle habits to determine whether Zoom in-office teeth whitening is your best option. Many patients whiten before they have new restorations placed. Zoom whitening won’t change the color of your existing restorations (fillings, crowns, bridges) so you may want to whiten before you have new restorations placed. This consult also allows you to discuss the best strategy for replacing previous restorations that will be visible in your smile after whitening. If you are a candidate for Zoom, we will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to make custom whitening trays for you to have after your Zoom appointment. You will be given Fluoridex, a fluoride toothpaste, to be used at least 2 weeks prior to your whitening appointment. Fluoridex helps strengthen your teeth before whitening and reduces possible sensitivity after treatment. If you are due for a dental cleaning, we suggest having it done before you schedule your whitening. This will allow the hygienist to remove any buildup and surface stains which will create a canvas for your best results. After that, you’ll be ready to schedule your Zoom appointment.

#3 – It’s appointment day! How does the magic happen?

The actual Zoom appointment begins with a quick polishing of your teeth. This allows the whitening gel to be placed directly on the tooth surface. I will then protect your lips with a special lip cream to avoid possible irritation. Following that, I will place a retractor in your mouth to help separate the lips and expose the teeth. Then I will use a shade guide to determine your starting point and take a before photo so that you can admire your results at the end. Next, I will place gauze inside of your mouth and carefully put a protective layer on your gums making sure that the only area exposed to the whitening solution is your teeth. After that, I will brush on the whitening gel. You’ll get a nifty pair of orange protective glasses to wear before I set the Zoom light in front of your teeth and let it work its magic. There are four 15-minute sessions in a Zoom appointment. In between each 15-minute session I will wipe off the previous gel, check your progress, and apply new gel before putting the light back into place. When your light sessions are over, I’ll clean up the remaining gel, remove all the barriers, and reveal your bright smile by taking an after photo.

Your custom whitening trays will be placed on your top and bottom teeth with a relief gel in them to help with any sensitivity you may experience. The trays are to be worn for 30 minutes after treatment. Before you leave, I will go over all post op instructions, advise you of foods/habits to avoid for the next 48 hours, and show you how to use your trays to touch up your whitening at home. After that, you’ll be out the door and ready to enjoy the compliments your new smile will bring!

I hope this answered some of your questions regarding Zoom. If you have specific concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our office! We’re always available to help. Brush, floss, and don’t forget that I would love to brighten your smile!
